The driveline has to match the engine’s purpose

The H22A’s personality changes how the rest of the powertrain should be considered. Transmission, clutch, axles, mounts, tires, and chassis condition determine how the engine’s output reaches the road. Those choices also affect noise, vibration, gearing, serviceability, and street behavior.

Rather than treating the driveline as a list of supporting parts, it helps to ask whether the complete package matches the mission established at the beginning. The correct answer for one Civic or Prelude may be the wrong answer for another.

Commissioning separates assembly from completion

A finished installation should pass through deliberate stages before it is treated as proven. Static inspection comes first. Initial operation should be used to confirm the basics and observe the first heat cycle. Mechanical, electrical, or thermal issues should be corrected before calibration is asked to compensate for them. Low-demand shakedown should precede higher-load evaluation.

Each stage should produce evidence: observations, measurements, logs, photographs where useful, and a clear list of anything that remains unresolved. That record makes the next decision more objective.

Old-school does not have to mean improvised

The best part of an older Honda build is often the directness—the mechanical personality, the response, the sound, and the sense that the driver is close to the machine. None of that requires weak process. In fact, disciplined planning helps preserve the character because fewer compromises are being hidden beneath it.
